Josie rolls….

I have not been too interested in posting in quite some time, but today seems like a good time to start again.
Josie is 3 months old today and she rolled over as I was taking some birthday pictures of her, so you can (kinda) see her in action. This rolling thing has been going on for some time…it’s her way of rejecting tummy time. She then promptly fell asleep.
It took Uther a whole year to decide that it might be sort of fun to play with Angus. Even now, he only plays with him once a week or so, although Angus asks to play every day.
Andrea at Modern Pooch has captured it on film, check it out.
By the way, Uther turned 13 on Sunday. Happy Birthday Uther!!!

Yesterday Mark and I got new camera phones, and I had to finally say goodbye to the little red phone I’ve had since… oh I don’t know… maybe 2001. Goodbye, red phone I hardly knew ye. Now there will be even more photos of animals and what not…

Mark takes Uther to Prospect Park every morning during off leash hours. Today I went with them.
Poor Uther. Today he went to the vet for his senior wellness check-up and saw Dr. M, whom he is terrified of, even though Dr. M kisses him on the nose. He made it through his exam and blood draw with only his usual amount of whimpering, barely contained shrieking, and several thwarted attempts at escape. (His exam went okay really, he’s doing pretty well for a 12 yr old with lots of “warts”.) Normally, this would be a stressful enough day for Uth, but today, on his way home from the vet, he got bit on the leg by the bulldog that lives down the block, so we had to turn around and go back. Fortunately, for Uther, the bite isn’t that bad, no stitches, no drain, no cone on his head, only a shave, antibiotics and hot compressing and a see how you do…
I was inspired to make Mark a sleeve for his laptop by some really cool looking ones in the fall issue of Interweave Knits. Since I already had a slew of Lamb’s Pride Worsted Wool just laying around waiting for me to think of something to do with it, I thought this would be the perfect short project that would make Mark happy and also please the instant gratification girl in me.

knit up and sewed together, ready for the washer.
I pretty much knit up a rectangle 25 X 44 inches, folded it in half, sewed up one side and the bottom to make a bag, washed it a bunch and ended up with a bag that is 17 X 13.5 inches. I wish it were narrower. If I did it again I would knit a rectangle 25 X 36. As it is, we will just put the computer in sideways and it will fit perfectly. I mostly followed the pattern in the interweave knits mag, but the pattern was a little off and I had to cast on 95 sts instead of the 80 sts they direct you to do to get the 25 inch width (yes my gauge was right). I also made up my own stitch pattern. I used 7 different colors of yarn, and didn’t have equal amounts of them so I made up a pattern that would allow me to use my yarn scraps without running out of any of the colors before I was finished.
The Lamb’s Pride has quite a halo after felting so I gave it a little shave, (We can’t have all that fuzz getting the laptop all linty!) and planned on cutting a handle for the bag, but Mark changed his mind about the handle. So, no handle, I cut some of the end of the bag off , because if there is no handle, what’s the point of all that fabric? Mark turns the computer sideways and the computer fits very snugly.

He seems happy with it, but I don’t like it. It gets the job done, but it’s not pretty. Just after I finished this Mark got a new laptop, so now I need to knit another one. The next one will be pretty.
A friend made this simply beautiful window and I just have to share it. You can’t see in the photo but the metal bits are copper. It’s so lovely! Unfortunately, it is hanging in front of the ugliest window in the universe. We hope they find a balance. Thanks Ramona!!
